TransCompel |
TransCompel is a composite gene regulatory element Module within the TransFac Suite of Biobase. Such elements are found in many promoters and enhancers of eukaryotic genes. They consist of two binding sites of two different transcription factors, which through this combination form a module with new regulatory properties. Composite elements frequently serve as integration sites of two (or more) signaling pathways.
TransCompel is equipped by the CATCH program, a analysis software for searching potential composite elements in DNA sequences. A sequence under study is scanned by this program using all composite elements collected in TransCompel as individual searching patterns. All found matches are directly linked to the TransCompel entries containing the corresponding composite elements.
TransCompel records all results of searches to user-specific areas. The main TransCompel web page will require logging in with your NIH domain username and password (the same ones used for ITAS, Exchange Email, and my.nih.gov). Enter your username without the prefix (i.e. joeuser, NOT nih\joeuser).
This is a secure server with encrypted communications. When you connect to an application on this server, you may see a popup window about the certificate for this website. Accept the certificate and continue.
Results of TransPath, ExPlain, TransFac, TransPro, and TransCompel searches will be stored on the server for one month, and will be deleted after that.
The databases and tools on this server are available to all NIH personnel. TransFac, TransPath, TransPro, TransCompel and ExPlain were developed by BioBase International. This server is maintained by the Helix Systems, CIT, NIH.
